The famous "Stockyards Hotel" located on Exchange Avenue in the Stock Yards of downtown Ft. Worth, Texas has been in business since 1904 and many of the original furnishings are still on the site today. It is a throw back in time and a jewel to see.
My introduction to photography began in the mid-50’s as a teenager employed to assist Joe Mason, a disabled Korean War Veteran, being trained by the Veterans Administration in the Art of Photography. I was hired primarily to assist Mr. Mason in the darkroom and to maintain an orderly appearance in his studio. Mr. Mason allowed me to be present for the majority of his training classes and this afforded me an opportunity to learn all aspects of the business. Growing up in the beautiful Tidewater area of Southeastern Virginia gave me a profound love of nature’s awesome beauty.
