Description
This World War II tug boat "Northern Retriever" was moored along a dock on the Tacoma Waterway in Tacoma, Washington. The retired and aging vessel awaits demolition in a nearby salvage yard. The "Northern Retriever" is a 180 foot Navy Tug that was built in 1943. To compliment the beauty of this aging vessel I applied a textured surface to this print to enhance its antique appearance.

The author of the photos of the Northern Retriever has no knowledge of this ship. I spent 30+ years on the ship and know the owner, how it was purchased, how much it sold for, the damages it consumed from bums as well as its restoration till the State of Washingtons blue collar offenders lied about it to the courts in order to obtain it for attempting to charge the owner 60 plus thousand dollars for moorage on Rainy Island....where no type was available to be considered reasonable.
